How much does it cost to order custom stained glass windows?
As it is with buying a car, prices can vary quite dramatically. Complex design require more time to fabricate than simple ones and material costs can fluctuate based on the types of glass used.
To calculate a rough estimate of what your project would cost, you can take the measurement of the window in inches and multiply length x width and then divide by 144. This will tell you the number of suqare feet of window you will need to purchase. For example, a window measurin 28 inches wide by 32 inches tall would require ( 28 x 32 / 144 = 6.22) 6.33 square feet of glass.
Prices normally range from $120 - $170 per square foot. The price will be confirmed after the design is drafted and glass choices confirmed, but I am happy to work with your to design and create a window you'll love within your budget. For the purposes of our example windows at 6.22 sq. feet, the cost would range between $746.40 to $1,057.40.
How does the ordering process work?
When we first meet we will discuss your needs, budget, and ideas like styles or themes and colours. Once I have a good idea of what you want, I'll be ready to start working on a first draft of a design for you. A $50 non-refundanle deposit is required before the design work is done. If you decide to go ahead with the order, the $50 deposit is put towards the overall cost of your window.
Once the design is ready, you will have the opportunity to make two rounds of changes to the design. After you confirm the design, we'll move on to adding colours. We'll discuss different options and I can show you a mock version of your window in a computer design in which we can switch out colours easily to see how your choices will look. Once the design and colour choices are finalized, the price of your windows will be set. At this time, a deposit of 50% of the total cost is due and all materials will be ordered and fabrication can begin.
The final balance will be due at the completion of your windows.
How long will it take to complete my order?
Every project is different in the amount of time required to complete it and the number of orders to be finished at any given time is always changing. Please feel free to contact me about your custom project and I would be happy to give you an approximate timeline based on my current workload.
